Red Bull to debut RB17 Hypercar at Goodwood

The RB17 is included in a line up at the Festival of Speed celebrating Red Bull Racing’s 20th anniversary.

Red Bull will bring drivers and cars from its past and present to the Goodwood Festival of Speed as the brand celebrates 20 years in racing.

Hotly anticipated is the world debut of the RB17 Hypercar, designed by Adrian Newey and his team. The 65 year old recently announced his departure from Red Bull’s F1 team and will put all of his focus on the RB17 project before leaving the brand entirely in early 2025.

The RB17 - a culmination of Red Bull’s knowledge and experience acquired across two decades in racing - will feature a two-seat carbon fibre monocoque chassis with a semi-stressed mid-mounted V10 engine and a carbon fibre gearbox driving the rear wheels. Expected to reach a top speed of 217mph, it has undergone rigorous testing in recent months to prepare it for action. However, its appearance at Goodwood on Friday 12th July in the Cathedral Paddock will only be static. Just 50 RB17s will be produced in total.

Outside of the RB17 Hypercar hype, several of the cars from the brand’s 20 years in racing will take on the iconic Goodwood Hill. Drivers will include 13-time F1 Grand Prix winner David Coulthard, Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner and Red Bull’s longest-serving exhibition driver Patrick Friesacher. More names will follow as the event edges closer.

Red Bull won’t be the only F1 team present at Goodwood, with stars from Williams also set to make an appearance at the festival.

Christian Horner, CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Advanced Technologies: “We are excited to debut the RB17 to the public for the first time and couldn’t think of a better world stage than Goodwood Festival of Speed. The RB17 exudes rarity and engineering excellence. We’ve channelled everything we know about racing into making the ultimate performance car and can’t wait for the public to see the result. I’m also just as thrilled to be bringing such a remarkable selection of cars and drivers to the iconic festival and look forward to celebrating our 20th season in front of such passionate motorsport fans.”

Duke of Richmond, founder of the Festival of Speed: “I am delighted that Oracle Red Bull Racing will be joining us at the Festival of Speed this summer to celebrate their 20th anniversary. In such a poignant year for the Formula 1 team, I am honoured they have chosen the Festival of Speed as the venue to unveil the much-anticipated RB17 for its global public debut, and I know our fans will be hugely excited for the team to bring a multitude of their championship-winning cars and drivers to the event this year.”

Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from 11-14 July.
