Caterham Seven CSR Twenty is a limited edition celebration

Caterham has revealed another limited edition Seven model, this time celebrating 20 years of the CSR chassis.

The British marque calls it “the most premium finish ever seen on a Seven” in its 51 year history and pairs Caterham’s most popular engine used in the Seven 420 with the brand’s most compliant chassis.

Chassis

Caterham’s most compliant chassis includes inboard front suspension, providing more direct and composed steering for longer drives. The fully independent rear suspension is also a feature and creates added rear grip and comfort. Combined, these offer reliable performance no matter what the road surface.

Engine

The CSR Twenty combines the chassis with Caterham’s most popular engine, the 2.0 litre Ford Duratec juiced up to 210bhp delivering 7,600rpm, 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 136mph.

A 5-speed manual gearbox and ventilated front discs with quad-piston callipers make this a dream track day option, if you dare push it.

Interior

When you talk about a Caterham Seven’s interior, there isn’t much room to work with. However, despite the lack of space, Caterham hasn’t compromised on quality using a satin carbon dashboard, CSR Twenty edition dials, a premium leather tunnel top, an Alcantara gearstick and handbrake gaiters, black carpets and a leather Momo steering wheel.

The seats are made from premium leather with Alcantara inserts, red stitching and CSR Twenty logos. Caterham says for a Seven, the interior is “unmatched in terms of quality and finish”.

Exterior

The exterior is most notable for its Seven 620-style nose cone, front wings, and two-tone Union Flag grille. The car has LED lights on the front and rear, while black Mohair boot and weather gear make it driveable in challenging conditions.

There is the choice between two ‘premium’ colours, Kinetic Grey and Dynamic Silver, with a pop of red provided by the brake callipers found on the CSR Vulcan 15-inch alloys.

How many will be built and what will they cost?

Just 20 examples - denoting 20 years - will be available to buy in the UK, with the first already being built at Caterham’s new multi-million pound facility in Dartford. Each will receive a numbered plaque between 1-20 located between the seats on the rear interior panel to signify its build number. Prices start from £79,995.

Bob Laishley, Caterham Cars CEO, said: “This is without doubt the most premium Seven we’ve ever built. The interior of the car is a level up from what we’ve produced before thanks to an array of high-quality materials used throughout.

“When you combine this with the exhilarating and engaging handling of our CSR chassis, this really is a Caterham built for longer distance road trips.”

A further 20 units are set to be built for the US market.
