The Driven Podcast is hosted by Motoring journalist, producer, and presenter John Marcar and co-hosted by photographer and classic car restorer Amy Heynes, professional racing and precision driver Miles Lacey, and the occasional special guest. As a team, John, Amy, and Miles interview some of the best voices and personalities in the automotive world. From journalists and writers to car designers and racing drivers, this podcast turns the wheel toward great conversations.

Alongside the interviews, The Driven Podcast features a diverse range of motoring-focused discussions and observations from the automotive world, the latest automotive news stories, and insights into the cars and motorcycles the team reviews at Driven.

The Driven Podcast follows the very successful Driven Chat Podcast, which is still available to catch up on, with over 180 episodes spanning from July 2020 to December 2023.

Season 1:
Our Episodes so far

Jonny Smith - Motoring Journalist, Presenter, Podcaster and YouTuber

Jonny Smith joined John Marcar and Miles Lacey as our first-ever guest on the all-new Driven Podcast. John and Jonny started talking about sitting down for a podcast together in December 2020, and finally, after four years, it's happened.

In this episode, John and Miles work through Jonny's unique, bizarre and, at times, downright ridiculous career as a writer, a journalist and a television presenter before embarking on the work of digital media with his monumentally successful podcast Smith & Sniff and YouTube Channel The Late Brake Show.

Alex Kersten - AKA AutoAlex, YouTube Content Creator

Alex Kersten is a big name in the automotive content creation game, having been the face of Car Throttle for an entire decade. In April 2022, Alex shocked the automotive world by announcing his resignation from Car Throttle to start his own media brand, which we now know as AutoAlex.

In this podcast, John Marcar and Alex are reunited as old friends and work colleagues to talk through his career and story, along with Miles Lacey, who enjoyed his first encounter with Alex... It's fair to say that Alex and Miles got on like a house on fire (literally, a-house-that-is-on-fire!).

Jimmy Broadbent on The Driven Podcast

Jimmy Broadbent - Online Gaming to Real Life Racing

Jimmy Broadbent is one of the most universally loved gaming streamers, with millions of viewers and followers worldwide. What makes Jimmy's story so unique is that, as revealed in this episode, he has managed to transition from the virtual racing world to real-life racing with the Praga series, Time Attack, and more.

Jimmy shared his very raw and real story, including the details of the most challenging times of his life, which led him to focus on gaming and streaming.

Nabil Naamo on The Driven Podcast

Nabil Naamo - The Story of Topaz & The Art of Obsession

Topaz Detailing is a trusted industry brand renowned for being the best of the best in the world of car detailing and paint protection services. From the outside looking in, it would be easy to assume the company was founded with a multi-million-pound financial investment, which immediately got to work on the biggest, best and most exclusive cars in the world; the real story, though, is very humbling.

In this week's Podcast Episode, Topaz co-founder Nabil Naamo shares the story of how his now internationally famous company started as two brothers working out the back of a van washing cars at £10 per wash.

Dan Prosser - Motoring Journalist & C0-Founder of The Intercooler

Dan Prosser is a motoring journalist and writer famed and haloed for his work as a freelancer and a staff writer for publications such as PistonHeads, The Daily Telegraph, BMW Car Magazine, Performance Car Magazine and, of course, Evo. In 2021, Dan teamed up with fellow motoring journalism royalty Andrew Frankel to launch The Intercooler, the online platform, mobile app and podcast for lovers of car content.

In this week's podcast, John Marcar and Miles Lacey chat to Dan and work through his career as a motoring journalist and the journey to starting the now much-loved online platform and podcast, The Intercooler.

Tom Wookie Ford on The Driven Podcast

Tom Ford - Associate Editor of Top Gear Magazine

Tom 'Wookie' Ford is the associate editor of Top Gear Magazine in the UK. He spends his working life travelling the world to capture and create stories for readers of one of the most established car magazines globally and its YouTube channel. Perhaps unsurprisingly, as a result of his frequent adventures, Tom has an arsenal of superb stories to tell.

This week on The Driven Podcast, John Marcar and Amy Heynes sit down with Tom in his home to catch up on some of the most fun recent adventures and recap some of the times when things didn't quite go to plan.

Adrian Sellers on The Driven Podcast

Adrian Sellers & James Bannister - Royal Enfield Motorcycles

This week, it's all about the bikes (but not exclusively!), as Amy and John visited Royal Enfield's UK HQ in Leicestershire. Greeting us there and joining us for the podcast episode is designer and head of Custom and Motorsport, Adrian Sellers. Alongside Adrian is James Bannister. James heads up the global creative strategy department, ensuring (in his own words) that the brand stays relevant and does cool things!

This recording took place back in a cold and wintery February 2024 (hence the cold weather chat) but is relevant now as we have on test a brand new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 - a bike that Adrian led the design for.

Ian Callum on The Driven Podcast

Ian Callum & Aleck Jones - CALLUM Designs

This week, on the Driven Podcast, John Marcar and Miles Lacey visit CALLUM in Warwick and meet car design royalty Ian Callum CBE and Aleck Jones.

Ian Callum is likely to be a name that needs no introduction thanks to his frankly marvellous portfolio of car designs. Aleck Jones is the head of design for CALLUM working directly with Ian. Ian, Aleck, Miles and John discuss the CALLUM business and work through the many products, projects and creations that are now finding their way onto driveways, roads and inside houses, too.

Steve Soper & Toby Partridge - & The Return of a Legendary BMW M3

This week on The Driven Podcast, John Marcar obsesses over a very special racing car. The car in question is the 1992 winner of the Spa 24 Hours, The BMW Fina BASTOS M3, which the equally legendary Steve Soper drove.

Steve Soper is this week's guest alongside ex-business partner turned co-racing driver Toby Partridge to discuss the return and rebirth of such a special car. Steve, Toby, and John Marcar discuss the story behind the car, the iconic race that Steve won in 1992, and the plans for the car moving forward.

John Marcar, Amy Heynes & Miles Lacey - Host Catch-up Episodes

Alongside the guest episodes, our hosts, John Marcar, Amy Heynes, and Miles Lacey, also shared their insights and adventures in catch-up episodes. These episodes covered a range of topics, from existing automotive news to personal experiences, and even some light-hearted automotive banter.

The Driven Podcast will continue to trickle the occasional episode over the summer months following season 1 and will return formally with a week-by-week structure once more in the Autumn.
