Fiat Grande Panda 4x4 concept reimagines the '80s classic

42 years later, the Panda 4x4 has an heir

Fiat has hit us with a Grande Panda 4x4 concept, with the Italian brand dubbing the moment “the next chapter in [its] legacy. The concept is likely to shape the future of Fiat and its ever-growing lineup, as it aims for a “fresh vision of sustainable mobility”.

Tradition meets innovation

The original Fiat Panda 4x4 was first launched in 1983 and became popular with punters as an affordable off-roader. The combination of practicality, comfort, and style, all while being able to tackle the toughest of terrain, gave it cult status.

Based on the hybrid/electric Grande Panda revealed in June 2024, the concept retains the boxy shape, comingh with an electric motor up front and adding an electrified rear axle to enable it to “deliver impressive performance in urban settings and on more demanding terrain.”

The Dark Red livery is a nod to a popular limited edition version of the Panda 4x4, and is contrasted with beige detailing on the wheels and ‘Panda’ graphic stamped into the side of the vehicle. Other styling details see the concept given Pixel LED lights on the roof rack in addition to those on the front.

While there is no news on whether the concept will ever head into full production, news of the concept has certainly created a storm. And with the Grande Panda priced at just £18,000, there will surely be many keeping an eye on developments.
