Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 Round Up - Celebrations & Debuts Galore
The 2025 Festival of Speed drew to a close on Sunday after four days of celebrations, star appearances and debuts at the iconic summer motoring event.
While the theme of the event centred around celebrating 75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship, many brands and manufacturers used the opportunity to showcase both classic and contemporary cars from their ranges to the estimated 200,000 fans in attendance.
75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship celebrated
The Goodwood House balcony welcomed F1 World Championship winners Alain Prost, Emerson Fittipaldi, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jacques Villeneuve, Mario Andretti, Mika Häkkinen and Nigel Mansell, alongside Bernie Ecclestone, Karun Chandhok and The Duke of Richmond.
Following his balcony moment the previous day, Alain Prost took centre stage on Sunday in front of the fans after getting behind the wheel of the McLaren MP4/4 chassis that he drove to victory at the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix.
Liam Lawson took on the Hillclimb in his Racing Bulls challenger and even took the time to perform some donuts for the fans. Lawson was joined by fellow 2025 F1 competitors Ollie Bearman and Estaban Ocon of Haas, while team principles Ayao Komatsu and James Vowles took on the Hill.
Ferrari dishes out the debuts
The new Ferrari Amalfi was part of the Prancing Horse’s expanded presence at the Festival of Speed. The 2+ Coupé was recently unveiled and will succeed the outgoing Roma.
There was also the chance for fans to get up close to the 296 Challenge car being used by drivers - including Driven’s John Marcar - in this year’s Ferrari UK Challenge Series.
The Ferrari F80 was given its dynamic debut at the festival as it took on the Goodwood Hill Climb. YouTube has been awash with videos from automotive creators like Chris Harris and Ben Collins testing the car over the weekend. Still, the fans at Goodwood were able to experience the sight and sound of the LaFerrari successor up close.
Jaguar Type 00 concept given UK unveiling
Jaguar’s major rebrand and subsequent Type 00 reveal have been the subject of cultural discourse that spread beyond the automotive space. It has been seen in the flesh in Miami Art Basel and Paris Fashion Week and Goodwood was the place to be to witness its UK debut.
Four time WorldSBK Champion Carl Fogarty honoured
Goodwood honoured Carl Fogarty 30 years on from his second WorldSBK championship title. Foggy reunited with his championship-winning Ducati 916 during the weekend and enjoyed a balcony moment in front of the thousands of fans.
Gordon Murray Automotive Central Feature
This year’s Central Feature celebrated Gordon Murray Automotive and the legacy and innovation that Professor Gordon Murray has brought to automotive design and engineering. The sculpture featured a Brabham BT52 and GMA T.50, while GMA development driver and multiple Indy500 winner Dario Franchetti opened the Thursday morning hillclimb session in a T.50.
