KAMM 912c 60th Edition pays tribute to the Porsche 912
KAMManufaktur releases ‘most collectable model yet’
Hungarian restoration company KAMManufaktur has honoured the Porsche 912 on its 60th anniversary with the KAMM 912c. The special edition follows other efforts by the 912 specialists with the brand hoping to ‘offer something different in the world of restomods’.
History of the Porsche 912
The 912 was originally revealed at the New York Auto Show in 1965. It came after the outgoing 356 and intended to be offered as an entry-level variant of the 911, although for 60 years since the 912 has lived in the shadow of its legendary sibling.
Only 32,000 of the original 912 were made between 1965 and 1969 at an initial price of $4,700 (equivalent to $46,900 today). The 912 was powered by the same Type 616/16 1.6-litre used in the 356 rather than the more powerful and expensive six-cylinder engine of the 911. Despite delivering only 90hp - 5hp less than the 365 - the 912’s lower weight resulted in even smoother handling than the 911 and has earned it widespread admiration in the motoring world.
The 912 also made waves in competitive motorsport, beating the 911 and 48 other cars at the 1967 European Rally Championship for Group 1 touring cars with Polish driver Sobieslaw Zasada behind the wheel. It is this victory that has inspired the KAMM 912c 60th Edition Poland Red paintwork seen in the header photo, although there is also the option of Bahama Yellow paintwork that was used by three 912s when taking part in Swedish rallies.
How is the KAMM 912c 60th Edition created?
Crafted at KAMManufaktur’s facility in Budapest, each 912c is based on a classic 912 donor car and further enhanced by the use of its own carbon fibre, resulting in a 750kg weight.
KAMManufaktur has created the special edition 912c using an extensively re-engineered, air-cooled four-cylinder engine based on the famous 616 powerplant. The brand says it ‘guarantees a fully analogue, pure driving experience that remains true to the essence of the original.’
Inside, both models will feature Bluetooth audio system, air-conditioning, cabin heater and wireless phone charging.
Owners can also choose for their 912c 60th Edition to be tuned for the street or the track with a choice of gearbox ratios, seats, regulated safety equipment and engine tuning available.
KAMM 912c Price

‘A very special moment for KAMM’
“The 912 has always been my passion,” said founder of KAMManufaktur, Miki Kázmér. “Being able to create a model that celebrates 60 years since this iconic sports car made its debut, is a very special moment for KAMM. Our anniversary 912c is a unique car, celebrating the incredible character of the 912 and its illustrious place in automotive history.”
