Mansory & Alec Monopoly collaborate for unique ‘Art Piece’

Mansory and American artist Alec Monopoly have collaborated to create a unique ‘art piece’ you’ll be able to take on the road.

Despite Mansory’s strict ‘one of one’ ethos, 10 vehicles will be created using a Mansory Speranza - the recently unveiled model based on a Mercedes AMG G63 W465 and turned into a 4-door convertible.

How will they be ‘one of one’ if there are 10 of them, I hear you ask? Well, Monopoly is set to hand paint each car individually in his signature Monopoly design language, going off script each time. This will be done over several days and then sealed with a special clear coat for added protection.

It would be a fair assessment to say that Mansory conversions aren’t for everyone, and this latest offering will certainly divide opinion.

Exterior

Monopoly’s hand painted ‘Mr Monopoly’ character is seen on the spare wheel cover and sides of the convertible’s exterior. Random splattered paint finishes give it an extra touch of uniqueness, while parts of the rims and the corresponding brake callipers are painted in four different colours.

Interior

As with all Mansory creations, the interior can be tailored to the customer in terms of colour, leather type, use of carbon fibre and materials used on other surfaces.

The mint blue interior we see here was the choice of artist Alec Monopoly, and it probably isn’t somewhere you’d want to be sitting when suffering from a headache. The door sills and passenger handle have been painted in the signature Monopoly style, while the seat belts, carbon sports pedals, steering wheel, floor mats and various other details are all the work of Mansory.

Performance

As well as a new look interior and exterior, the W465 model has been given an improvement in performance, using larger turbochargers and a high-performance exhaust system with redesigned downpipes.

This means that the 4.0-litre V8 engine now delivers 820hp and 1,150Nm of torque (an increase of 235hp and 300Nm respectively), allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Who is Alec Monopoly?

Starting life as a street artist and using a medical mask to conceal his identity, Alec Monopoly has gone on to become one of the most prolific contemporary artists, with his recognisable signature style and work with various materials, including stencils, spray paint, epoxy resins, lacquers, and newspapers.

Now no longer hiding his face, Monopoly has also expanded into the world of music, becoming a resident DJ at many of this summer’s most popular destinations like Ibiza and Mykonos.
