David Gandy receives first Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum
Automotive design and engineering company Callum has collaborated with bespoke car specialists Wood and Pickett to create a limited production Mini that blends classic and modern design.
The first person to receive a Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum was international male model and certified petrolhead David Gandy. Gandy worked directly with the Callum design team to tailor every aspect of his Mini from paint selection to interior trims to create something truly unique and personal to his style.
“A symbol of British ingenuity and style”
For company founder and legendary car designer Ian Callum, the Mini has been a significant vehicle to him, both personally and professionally.
“The Mini is one of the most important cars ever created not just for its innovative engineering, but for what it represents culturally as a symbol of British ingenuity and style,” said Callum. “It’s a car that broke the rules and became a global icon. To reimagine it through the lens of Callum, with Wood and Pickett’s craftsmanship, has been deeply rewarding.”
Exterior
Using a fully restored Mk5 Sportspack bodyshell, the bespoke Anthracite metal finished Mini adds side sills and an updated rear design, as well as unique front and rear valances.
The lighting has also been reimagined in both the front and rear, while original Wood & Pickett arches give it added uniqueness.
Interior
Inside, a newly designed dashboard takes inspiration from previous retro Wood and Pickett interiors. Tan Bridge of Weir upholstery is combined with a unique ‘Piano’ switch pack, finely finished metal bezels and Callum-trimmed bespoke seats, mixing retro and contemporary British styling.
Other than the modern day infotainment screen, the classic Mini feel remains.
Powertrain
Underneath the bonnet of the Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum is a newly rebuilt 1310cc Stage 3 road/rally engine that delivers 110bhp. This is paired with a reengineered gearbox and re-tuned ECU for a more responsive power delivery, while other highlights include a new performance cylinder head, twin-point injection, and a bespoke twin-exit exhaust system with a distinctive upswept tailpipe design.
For a better driving experience, the Mini has been given a road tuned suspension kit, upgraded brakes and Callum designed 13” alloy wheels.
Price & Public debut
The Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum will be offered in a limited production run, with prices starting at £75,000. Each one will be built in the UK, and according to Callum, “no two builds will be alike”. Customers will be encouraged to work closely with a member of Callum’s design team to create a Mini that ‘reflects their individual vision’.
If you don’t happen to have £75,000 lying around, there will be the chance to see the Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum for the first time at the Heveningham Concours from 27-29 June.
