Miami Grand Prix to remain in F1 until 2041
Promoter South Florida Motorsports agrees new mega deal
A new 10 year deal was signed ahead of this weekend’s Grand Prix, making Miami the longest contracted event on the F1 calendar.
The Miami Grand Prix joined the F1 calendar in 2022 with a purpose built temporary circuit created around the Hard Rock Stadium, home to the Miami Dolphins. According to F1 chiefs, the race has had a significant impact on the local economy, generating over $1 billion in economic impact since its inception. The 2024 race saw a circuit record of 275,000 fans attend the Miami International Autodrome across the weekend.
Whether that economic benefit has been matched by exciting racing is another matter entirely, with overtaking difficult to come by in the 3.363 mile circuit featuring 19 corners. McLaren fans will always remember the Miami Grand Prix with fondness, as it was the location of Lando Norris’ maiden win in F1 in 2024.
F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali commented: “In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar.
“Extending this agreement until 2041 is a strategic milestone which strengthens our presence in America and consolidates our growing fan base.”
Cadillac Formula 1 Team unveils logo
Ahead of the weekend’s racing in Miami, Cadillac unveiled its new logo with the team set to join the F1 grid in 2026.
The logo was unveiled as part of a new promotional video, as TWG Motosports and General Motors - Cadillac’s backers - look to create something unique, while honouring the brand’s heritage.
“Cadillac is honoured to share the F1 stage with the best luxury brands from around the world. It’s a brand whose legacy on and off the track is filled with innovation, technological precision, and timeless beauty,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “Our journey has been long, but from the very beginning, it has been about ambition… audacity… and now acceleration.”
Ferrari will supply Cadillac’s power units for 2026, before the American team creates their own from the 2027 season onwards under the expertise of industry veteran Russ O’Blenes.
As for who’ll be behind the wheel for Cadillac next season, plenty of drivers who are currently free agents would surely jump at a chance to get back into the pinnacle of motorsport, including Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo. However, as we all know, the world of Formula 1 changes on a weekly basis, making it impossible to predict who’ll be donning the Cadillac racesuit come next March.
