Balcony moments confirmed at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Champions of motorsport are set to get their balcony moment at Goodwood House as part of this summer’s Festival of Speed event. The Festival of Speed takes place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 July, and its ‘Winning Formula’ theme will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Formula One World Championship.
It won’t just be F1 that is represented on the Goodwood House balcony, however, with drivers and riders from other forms of motorsport all getting to meet thousands of fans.
Derek Bell - Thursday 10 July
The first balcony moment will see five-time Le Mans winner, three-time Daytona 24 Hours Champion and two-time World Sportscar Champion Derek Bell meeting the crowds at Goodwood House. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his first 24 Hours of Le Mans victory, where he drove the Mirage-Ford GR8 alongside Jacky Ickx.
The 83 year old will reunite with his 1975 Mirage-Ford GR8 for a special run up the Goodwood Hill before meeting the crowds in front of Goodwood House.
Carl Fogarty - Friday 11 July
Four time World SBK Champion Carl Fogarty will be taking his old Championship winning Ducati 916 for a spin throughout the Festival of Speed weekend, and is set for a Friday balcony moment to honour a stellar career.
It is the 30th anniversary of his 1995 championship, and WorldSBK will also be celebrated during the event with 20 iconic bikes from the championship’s golden era set to feature alongside Fogarty’s fellow riders from over the years.
